Intent

Art and Design forms an important part of the creative curriculum at The Village Federation. Art activities aim to engage, inspire and challenge pupils whilst giving them the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress through the school, they develop their knowledge of artistic skills and techniques and are encouraged to think critically about their work and the work of others, and develop a sense of how art has shaped history and become an important part of our culture. We aim to ensure that pupils are introduced to the works of a wide range of artists during their time in our school, and the children will re-encounter some artists to see that they did different things, or that they didn’t just paint in one style.
